Yintai Centre is a composite development comprising podium shopping arcade of 165,000 m2 (8 stories above ground level of 150,000 m2 and basement of 15,000 m2), residential flats of 108,000 m2, the office of 160,000 m2, a five-star hotel of 42,000 m2, serviced apartments of 80,000 m2 and basement of 180,000 m2 with a total CFA of 720,000 m2. The tallest tower for hotel and serviced apartments is 220 m.

I participated in the project for over one year working with the chief designer and project team through master planning, conceptual design, schematic design, and design development. I mainly focused on podium schematic design, hotel and office tower facade design and development, sustainable design and analysis, as well as construction documents optimization and 3D model management.

The project locates in the new southern area of the Gaoxin District of Chengdu city. It is adjacent to Chengdu financial district’s landmark buildings on the east side, Xinyizhou urban park on the south side, and a series of office and retail buildings are under construction nearby. All these give the site a special natural landscape as well as a commercial basis.

During the schematic design phase, I provided multiple types of facade patterns based on building performance as well as aesthetics. According to the client demand and the result of the solar analysis, we finalized the last option on the right. I involved in Conceptual Design, Schematic Design, Design Development.

During the design development phase, I further developed the facade system into a deeper level. I proposed 6 six different spandrel glass options in which one of which has been selected as the final setting, and parapet and mech room facade solutions.
